Dynamic Illusion - Massive EP incl. Greenage, Pacco & Rudy B [SMD218]

The latest from Suffused Music finds the label revisiting Dynamic Illusion’s ‘Massive’ for a new set of remixes. Originally released in November of 2017 as part of the ‘Run Away’ EP it found the Hungarian artist at his creative best. The track’s chunky groove and ethereal elements resonated wonderfully on the dance floor and quickly found a place in hearts of progressive music lovers all around the globe. Now almost two and halfs years on Suffused Music invites Greenage and Pacco & Rudy B to reinvent the track for 2018.

The first interpretation is provided by Greenage who is making his debut on the label. The Indian artist has found a great space in the progressive landscape with key releases on Juicebox Music and Balkan Connection. His ‘Massive’ interpretation is about as pure as the resurrected genre can get. It’s warm, fluid groove and wispy vocal motifs are incredibly charming. Add to that a vibrant percussion section and expansive sonic tapestries for what results in a magical, free flowing creation to be enjoyed several times over.

The second and final interpretation of ‘Massive’ is provided by Pacco & Rudy B who are returning to the label for their fourth appearance. The Croatian duo have been hot this year with the launch of their Mallam imprint along with quality work for A Must Have and Dopamine Music. Always creative remixers, they take ‘Massive’ into their own world of dreamy progressive house. Backed by a warm, sultry groove it’s free flowing appeal is hard to resist. Reprocessed, the vocals sound fabulous, dreamy and ethereal as they fade off in trails of sonic dust, before a luminous set of tones carries the piece to an exhilarating conclusion. Two excellent interpretations from two of the most on form artists of the moment. An excellent remix edition for Suffused Music once again which heads into the summer season on roll.

Volkan Erman - The Journey EP [SMD217]

The 217th release on Suffused Music welcomes Volkan Erman back to the label for a brand new EP. The Turkish born, Italy based artist last appeared on the Lithuanian imprint in November of 2017 with a remix of 'Believe By Two Hemispheres' by GBrown. Now following releases on BC2 and Morninglory Music, Volkan returns to Suffused with 'The Journey' EP.

The three track journey begins with the deep, rolling grooves of 'Exit'. Once again expanding the boundaries of his progressive house roots Volkan crafts a deep and sophisticated seven minute trip. Built around subtle shades and tones, it's a one minute interlude which shifts energy into tranquil yet compelling territory before a muted kick builds anticipated towards a glowing finale.

The EP's second selection 'Lonely' builds on the meditative narrative with another smooth yet punchy foundation and meandering chimes. It's glistening beauty cannot be overstated and a darker, squelchy break just adds the perfect contrast, ultimately setting up a groovy, dubbed out third act.

The release concludes with the title selection and also the most progressive oriented of the three 'The Journey'. Anchored by a well sculpted, driving groove there's a ball of infectious energy from the beginning. Dark stabs pierce the air as gaseous effects and haunting atmospheres lead to a poignant break. A delicate main theme then shifts the narrative into something reflective and poignant before melting down into darkness once more. A massive track to round out another exceptional collection of music from Volkan. Don't miss it.

Paride Manzi - The Saurce EP [SMD216]

The latest release on Suffused Music finds Paride Manzi returning to the label for a brand new EP. Previously operating under his Claque Choc alias the Italian born artist owns releases on Asymmetric Recordings and Futura Groove Records. Now residing in Switzerland, Paride last appeared on Suffused Music with ‘Show Me Your Love’. The two track offering proved to be a standout in his 2016 discography, which now leads to the 2018 follow up ‘The Source’. 

Beginning with ‘Forget Fear’ Paride shows the darker side of his studio repertoire. On a backbone of crunchy bass stabs comes mysterious vocals and metallic arps. Devilishly deep and hypnotic, it’s the vocal narrative which carries the track, delivering a strong message before one final break brings a melancholic vibe to cap off the seven minute journey. 

The companion piece and also the EP’s title selection ‘The Source’ closes the release out with an esoteric vibe. Going back to his tech house roots, Paride crafts a tight, rhythmic composition that’s destined for dance floor success. A wonky tonal theme runs through the track, complete with timely modulation as clap delays and rugged low end provide the icing on the cake. It rounds out a much welcome return to Suffused Music for the Italian artist who you’re sure to hear more about as 2018 unfolds.

Initializing, Vol. 18 [SMDVA026]

As the seasons shift Suffused Music presents the eighteenth volume in it’s critically acclaimed ‘Initializing’ series. Conceptualized in 2014 with the intent of showcasing cutting electronic music from all corners of the globe, the series has grown and so to has its musical boundaries, incorporating various styles of Progressive House, Techno, Deep House and Electronica. While beginning as full length compilations, the series continues with it’s more concise, EP style approach. Adopted on the last installment in March, this succinct style allows the artists greater space and a more prominent showcase for their work. Featured on the 18th volume are: (in order of appearance): Oscar Vazquez, Darkline, Pedro Nazer & Manu (AR), Alec Araujo & Goraieb, Gerardo Portilla. Clyde Rouge - Hybrid EP [SMD215]

The 215th release on Suffused Music welcomes Clyde Rouge back to the label for his debut EP. The Scottish artist and Chief Rouge label boss has found a unique space in the progressive house landscape. Releases on Beat Boutique and Pro-B Tech Records have been sensational, not to mention his Suffused debut which came in the form of a remix for Dynamic Illusion. Now returning to the Lithuanian imprint Clyde presents his first artist EP for label entitled 'Hybrid'.

Spread across three tracks it's 'Sustain' which gets the EP underway with a grinding, character rich groove. Smooth chord changes immediately evoke an emotional response as airy atmospheres and vibrant motifs envelope the framework. While a touch symphonic the lead synth is full of dulcet hooks, evolving with a sophisticated flair and onwards to a tasteful finale.

The EP’s ethos is then carried perfectly into the title cut ‘Hybrid’, with it’s buzzing low end and gleaming melodic themes. Effervescent stabs add just the right amount of grit, complementing the celestial top end before shifting gears into a purring finale.

The driving, energetic narrative continues with the EP’s closer ‘Trip’. Built on a foundation of warm bass swells and dynamic percussion, it’s tight rhythmic core becomes infectious, building momentum with each successive loop before a short but timely break transitions the piece into a rolling conclusion. The most reflective of three, it rounds out a landmark EP for the up and coming Scottish artist who you’ll no doubt be hearing a lot more about in the future.
