K3V - Corundum EP [SMD224]

K3V returns to Suffused Music for his debut EP entitled ‘Corundum’. Having first appeared on the Lithuanian imprint with a contribution to the label’s ‘Initializing’ Vol. 17 Collection, K3V also owns releases on Aly and Fila's FSOE UV imprint where he collaborated with Paul Thomas on the club hit ‘Aquamarina’. Now returning to Suffused Music for his first artist showcase K3V presents four fresh originals.

The release begins with the infectious grooves of ‘Revival of Nature’. Backed by tough beats and chunky rhythms it’s perfectly dialled for the dance floor. Vocal samples enhance the narrative, bringing a mysterious tone to it’s potent drive, before glacial effects initiate a tripped out, tension filled break. Perfectly executed, it’s a momentous build, complete with swirling atmospherics, before a powerful drop summons a strong final act. The mood goes a touch deeper on ‘Gravity’ with a funkier, more spacious foundation carving out the journey. Phasing atmospheres converge with melodic concepts as indistinct radio transmissions fire through the framework. A near three minute interlude unites the two acts with a cinematic flair before looping vocals take you into a groovy finale.

‘Vibranium’ maintains the electric feel of the EP and at over ten minutes in length it’s also the most expansive track on the collection. Anchored by a traditional progressive groove it’s galloping roll immediately draws you in. Shifty harmonics add melancholy to the narrative before becoming fully realized during the main break. Much like ‘Gravity’ it’s a near three minute journey of subtle shades and tones before eventually peaking in intensity for a wondourus crescendo. The release concludes with 'Eleventh Hour' which also featured on the previously mentioned ‘Initializing’ Vol. 17 collection. It’s an energetic, crunchy progressive bomb that's perfectly dialled for a peak time dance floor. It's rough, chugging groove is ripe with character, while an array of cosmic effects and tantalizing melodies converge for an exhilarating apex. It rounds out a superb debut EP from K3V, who is definitely an artist to keep a close eye on as 2018 progresses.

Tech D & Gvozdini - Memoria EP [SMD223]

The latest release on Suffused Music finds the label pairing two of the Ukraine's progressive stars for a dream collaboration. Tech D and Gvozdini have both achieved immense success in their respective solo careers with releases on DAR, Manual Music and Replug. Now coming together for their first ever collaboration the duo present 'Memoria' alongside two solo originals from Tech D.

Tech D has always bridged the gap between progressive house and techno with an effortless ease. The EP’s first selection ‘Aura’ showcases this cross pollination once again with a driving underbelly that’s complemented with bulbous tones and a lively rhythmic core. Gentle chord stabs ignite the melodic narrative, evolving into a break of emotive soundscapes and cinematic overtones. Feelings of hope and elation meld before scattered drums and a rush of noise sparks a perfectly executed drop.

Next up is the highly anticipated collaboration ‘Memoria’. The meeting of two great progressive minds is always an exciting prospect and the results do not disappoint. Deep and emotive from the outset with immaculately contoured bass, smooth chord changes and lovely melodic hooks. Stripping down into the second act brings a deeper emotion, as fluid swells and poignant pads elevate the mood to a tasteful apex and gorgeous finale act.

The release concludes with the second solo production from Tech D entitled ‘Organic Soul’. This showcases the Ukrainian artist’s more pure progressive sound with rolling grooves and catchy rhythmic themes leading the way. Once again it’s the melodic storyboard which proves most captivating with rising atmospheres and reflective tones initiating a stunning main break. Hopeful and tastefully epic in equal measure, dulcet riffs meet waves of noise for a heartfelt crescendo, rounding out the release on a strong note. A gorgeous collection of music from Tech D, highlighted by a first time colab with fellow countryman Gvozdini. Don’t miss it.

Ewan Rill - Thank You EP incl. Monojoke, Clyde Rouge [SMD222]

The 222nd release on Suffused Music finds the label showcasing new interpretations of Ewan Rill’s ‘Thank You’. Originally released in May of 2016 as part of the ‘Tower’ EP it found the Russian artist crafting a funky, progressive minded dance floor burner. Still resonating throughout the underground today Suffused Music now invites Monojoke and Clyde Rouge to reinvent the track for 2018.

The first interpretation of ‘Thank You’ is provided by Monojoke who is returning to the label for his eighth appearance. The Polish artist has been quiet this year following a 2017 which including several collaborations with fellow countryman Tuxedo (as Fluente) which found their way onto Knee Deep In Sound and Sudbeat Music. Now returning to Suffused Music for one of his most anticipated remixes to date Monojoke provides a peak time interpretation of ‘Thank You’. Anchored by a chuggy, swing heavy groove it’s effervescent and electric from the outset, as clusters of cosmic effects and unabashedly epic lines make for an unforgettable sonic collage.

The second and final interpretation of ‘Thank You’ is provided by Clyde Rouge who has been hyped of late with releases on Beat Boutique, Pro-B Tech Records and his own Chief Rouge imprint. Now following his ‘Hybrid’ EP from May, the Scottish artist returns to Suffused Music with a stellar rendition of ‘Thank You’. Clyde’s penchant for cross pollinating genres is once again evident with a creation that incorporates elements of Techno, Tech House and Progressive. A swollen, key changing low end sets the piece in motion as waves of percussion fill in the framework. Deeply meditative yet hugely energetic, it’s an eight minute journey for both the mind and feet, with timely transitions and key drops keeping the rhythmic storyboard fresh. A brilliant interpretation and no doubt one of Clyde’s most mature sounding to date. It caps off a perfect remix edition for Ewan Rill’s ‘Thank You’ in style.
