Volkan Erman - Labyrinth EP [SMD161]

The 161st release on Suffused Music welcomes Volkan Erman back to the label for a brand new EP. The Turkish born, Italy based artist last appeared on the Lithuanian imprint in 2014 alongside sometime studio partner Hypnotic Progressions with their 'Expressions' single. Volkan's take on the traditional progressive house blueprint has been delighting old school lovers for years and now he steps up for perhaps the most anticipated EP of his career.

Beginning with the title and showcase piece 'Labyrinth' the Turkish artist brings a tight groove and crunchy rhythms straight away. It's dark overtones and deliberate energy sound tailor made for the dance floor before a strong ride adds further fuel to the fire. Drifting hypnotics add a dreamy context to the narrative which carries into a tripped out yet emotive main break. A masterful build with gyrating rhythms and sweeping noise makes for a dynamic drop and suitably massive finale. A monster track from Volkan and one you're likely to be hearing all throughout the progressive underground over the coming months.

The companion piece 'Thoughts' follows a similar sonic profile but with a slightly deeper delivery. Tough beats, rugged rhythms and ethereal motifs prove engaging before evolving soundscapes take you further into dreamland. As percussive waves intensify the atmosphere thickens with the main break commencing. Murky and mysterious in all the right ways, the track's centrepiece proves dramatic with a subtle build through the mystical air, before a crunchy drop lights up your dance floor. Another massive production from Volkan which rounds out a perfect peak time EP for Suffused Music. Don't miss it.

Ewan Rill - Tower, Pt. 2 incl. Paul Hamilton, Jiminy Hop, Andrees & Yakoff [SMD160]

The latest release on Suffused Music finds the label revisiting Ewan Rill's 'Tower' for a set of remixes. Originally released in May of 2016 as part of the 'Tower' EP, the track showcased the Russian artist at his finest with a production that pushed the boundaries of conventional progressive house. Now as 2017 begins Suffused Music invites Paul Hamilton, Jiminy Hop and Andrees & Yakoff to reinvent the track for the new year.

The first interpretation of 'Tower' is provided by Paul Hamilton who is making his first appearance on the Suffused Music. Perhaps best known for a string of bombs on Baroque Records all through 2016, the Dubai based artist gets 2017 off to a great with a sensational remix of 'Tower'. The drifting atmospherics from the original play heavily here but with a chugging, techy groove sitting at the foundation it comes across in a much different context. Paul's productions always have a keen nose for the dance floor and the tightly wound framework along with shimmering hats and dulcet motifs are nothing short of brilliant. Excellent remix from Paul.

The second interpretation of 'Tower' is provided by Jiminy Hop who is making his second appearance on Suffused Music. The Russian artist first appeared on the Lithuanian imprint in October of 2016 with a contribution to the label's 'Initializing, Vol. 11' collection. Now kicking off the new year in style Jiminy takes 'Tower' into driving, percussive territory with great results. Backed by a strong rhythmic core and pulsating bass stabs the energy of the piece is apparent straight away. Smooth chord changes and a subtle acid line converge for the ultimate textural contrast, before the third act rises higher as layers of luminous synths bring you into goosebump territory.

The third and final interpretation of 'Tower' is provided by Andrees & Yakoff who are making their eighth appearance on Suffused Music. The Lithuanian duo have been a core part of the label's roster since first appearing in early 2014 on the first ever 'Initializing' compilation. Now following a quiet 2016 the much loved duo begins the year with an excellent rendition of 'Tower'. Brooding, moody and a touch paranoid it's a subversive mix which hits a variety of emotions. A cavernous break only adds to its dramatic depth, stretching more than a minute before a gentle rush reignites the hypnotics for a mesmerizing finale. A top notch interpretation from Andrees & Yakoff which rounds out an excellent remix pack from Suffused Music to begin the new year.

Tatsama - Oxidation EP [SMD159]

The 159th release on Suffused Music finds Tatsama returning for his debut EP. The Indian artist made his first appearance on the Lithuanian imprint in July of 2016 with a contribution to the label's Initializing, Vol. 10 collection. Additional discography highlights include an appearance on Praveen Achary's Juicebox Music and Spain's Good Stuff Recordings. Now making his second appearance on Suffused Music Tatsama presents his much anticipated 'Oxidation' EP.

Noted for his deep progressive sounds, Tatsama looks set for the biggest year of his career and 'Isthmus' gets it off to a great start. Mystical textures backed with tough kicks and tribal infused drums bring a spiritual vibe as the journey begins. Organic designs and meditative motifs converge carrying a smooth yet exhilarating first act. Split up into three sub sections the main break flows through a myriad of electric hooks and radiant atmospheres. It's a heady trip yet one that's firmly rooted on the dance floor with its chuggy, progressive rhythms carrying you home.

The companion piece 'Sivanjana' was one of the standouts from the aforementioned 'Initializing' Vol. 10 collection. It's classic progressive vibe is a nod to the old school with poignant pianos and acid rhythms fuelling the journey. Four short yet timely breaks enhance the narrative with dramatic tension and emotive moments, making for a unique sound story to captivate your mind and move your feet. A superb debut EP for Tatsama on Suffused Music and definitely an artist to keep a close eye on as 2017 moves forward.

Subconscious Tales - Aura EP incl. Loco-Volver, Stage Van H, Soulfinder [SMD158]

Much like the name suggests, Subconscious Tales brings to us Aura, a beautiful four track EP, set to travel deep within us. With an ever-steadily growing repertoire, Subconscious Tales teams up with Loco-Volver, Soulfinder and Stage Van H on remix duties, creating an intensely melodic release that all true Prog lovers will embrace excitedly.

The original mix comes in with a strong start, a powerful kick with light pads that well until the track is ready to really take off. Lighthearted percussion and a deep, rolling bass make up the meat of this masterful piece. By the time the breakdown comes in, listeners have already been transported to a magical place of melodies and with a type of euphoria, the bass is welcomed back in after the perfectly timed drop. The original mix is perfect to warm up or cool down a floor and really get people tuned into their emotions.

Loco-Volver introduces the funky flavor to the EP with his upbeat and bassy remix. The bass is the stand out quality in this one. With a disco-esque roll and rumble, the bass plays peek-a-boo with the understated high hats that act as a compliment to the whole track, encouraging it along. The breakdown, a moment of mysticism, as listeners are left hanging, happily suspended until takeoff. Loco-Volver folds it all together harmoniously and has created a real gem perfect to incite introspective moments on the dance floor.

Stage Van H deepens things with his remix, noticeably, on the first note. The kick in this remix takes control of listeners with an authoritative and confident cadence and by the time the synths are introduced, anyone on the dance floor will be under this track’s complete control. The euphonic synth lead really plays a part in this remix by acting in comparison to the intensity of the kick. As if in a yin-yang partnership, all elements of Stage Van H’s remix stay tuned, locked and in absolute polyphony.

Soulfinder brings us the techiest of all versions. His percussion is center stage and he takes listeners on a different journey than the other 3 tracks on the EP. The beat is upfront, the pads and synths step back into the mix as an ambient, subconscious addition that listeners can process and feel good about but still move under the direction of the percussion. Very progressive in composition, Soulfinder’s remix continuously grows as it plays, until all sounds are upfront and ready for their moment to shine.

Audio Mill - Versatile EP [SMD157]

The 157th release on Suffused Music welcomes Audio Mill to the label for his debut EP. Arjan Molenaar aka Audio Mill hails from the Netherlands and has found a home on Baroque Records, MNL and Traum where his fresh take on house and techno has flourished. Now making his much anticipated debut on Suffused Music Audio Mill presents his brand new three track EP entitled 'Versatile'.

The EP begins with 'Hangover Square' which finds Audio Mill crafting a funky, energetic piece aimed squarely at the dance floor. Mountainous bass stabs and strong rhythmic tones carve out an irresistible groove, before atmospheric overlays and esoteric vocals carry nicely into the break. Short and perfectly crafted the track's centrepiece builds tension as the funky hooks intensify and the hazy backdrop rises. A strong third act brings further fire as serene pads and a rising modular narrative converge for the ultimate finale.

Up next 'Leaving My Trails' continues the brilliant mood with a smooth groove and strong themes. Waves of percussion add drive while a backdrop of atmospheric haze builds tension. Void of any major break, the piece never loses its momentous flow as the interwoven themes delight the senses throughout the six minute meditative journey.

The EP concludes with the deeply musical 'Red Shoes'. Anchored by warm bass swells and strong melodic motifs it's poignant vibe immediately draws you in. Creamy keys and clustered trails carve out a wonderful storyboard which is both serene and exhilarating. A timely break allows the musical cascades to shine before a growling underbelly reignites the groove for a playful romp home. A pleasant end to a wonderful 3 track collection from Audio Mill. Don't miss it.

Juan Pablo Torrez - Eloisa EP incl. Kamilo Sanclemente, Owersound [SMD156]

Making his debut on Suffused Music’s 156th outing, South American DJ and producer, Juan Pablo Torrez, hits his stride with “Eloisa”, backed by a pair of classy remixes. Colombian based, Torrez, has a strong track record in the underground and mainstream dance arenas. With performances alongside Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta and Steve Agnello, he has created a name for himself, further enhanced by his monthly, “Believe in Progressive” podcast. Furthermore, his music has been signed to a host of high profile imprints that include Black Hole, Aco Music and One Music Records.

Debuting on Suffused music, “Eloisa” is a club-friendly piece that moves relentlessly forwards through hypnotic house beat and driving bass. Reaching its zenith at the mid-point with an emotive chord sequence, the third movement combines rhythmic and melodic elements with effortless ease to create a striking work.

First up on the remix trail, Kamilo Sanclemente, is a fellow Columbian with a rich musical heritage to his name. A regular on high-profile labels, Baroque, Natura Viva and Darin Epsilon’s Perspectives Digital, since debuting for Suite 7 Records via the 2013, “Angels EP”, Sanclemente has seen his stock rise ever higher backed by support from artists such as Hernan Cattaneo, Danny Lloyd and Tim Penner with original and remix production material in the progressive and tech house genres. After a March 2016 remix of Bruno Caro, Sanclemente’s remix of “Eloisa” for Suffused Music is a deep, tech-fuelled affair, immediately making a strong presence with white-noise gated effects and cadenced clave percussion section. Developing seamlessly over its near eight-minute journey, a subtle bass line provides depth before the familiar tones of Juan Pablo Torrez’s melodic riffs are heard at the mid-point breakdown. Combining the new rhythmic framework with original components in the second half, a huge, pulsating rhythmic mélange fires from the speakers in impressive fashion.

The second remix comes from Russian based producer, Owersound. Well-known for over a century of production credits under his own Arthur Minnahmetov name, the Kazan based artist, saw his new production moniker as a vehicle to work on a deeper sound that took elements from the tech house, techno and deep house genres, melding them into a new form that could identify the distinctive Owersound style. A man immersed in music from an early age, it was not until the breakup of the Soviet Union that the fresh sound of electronic music found its way to Minnahemetov’s ears in the early 1990s. A rapidly upward career trajectory followed as music found its way to such prestigious labels as Dopamine, BC2 and Particles plus a dozen production credits for Suffused Music, including 2015’s, “In Your Soul” and “Shaman” EPs. Now debuting his new soubriquet, the Owersound remix of “Eloisa” sees a chunky rhythm open proceedings before a gated variation on the original bass line finds its feet. Progressing elegantly, a smooth and glossy hypnotic riff makes its presence felt mirroring the framework laid down by Torrez. The result is an intelligent reworking, full of Owersound’s craft and musical know-how.

As “Eloisa” finds her way on to the Suffused Music catalogue, Juan Pablo Torrez, Kamilo Sanclemente and Owersound provide a vibrant party atmosphere to welcome her.

Lian July & Chris Odium - Illumina EP [SMD155]

The 155th release on Suffused Music welcomes Lian July & Chris Odium to the label for their debut EP. Hailing from Israel and the USA respectively Lian and Chris have both had notable success in their solo careers, having collectively appeared on Iboga Records, Silk Music and The Purr. Now making their much anticipated Suffused Music debut Lian and Chris present their 3 track EP entitled 'Illumina'.

The release begins with the deep and delicate 'Better Than Ever'. A tough framework sets it's dance floor sensibility straight away but a complement of trippy vocals and hypnotic motifs add a wonderful contrast. Dubbed out tones and timely stabs add mightily to its smooth cadence before a one minute interlude shifts the narrative closer to the heavens. Filled with meandering motifs, muted bass tones and hazy vocals it proves to be the ultimate centerpiece and foreshadows a smooth yet exhilarating conclusion perfectly.

The EP's second selection 'Eronia' comes in a touch funkier but with a similarly smooth design profile. Undulating bass stabs make for a rousing groove as wispy vocals and incandescent tones tantalize the senses. Undeniably geared for late night play, it's short but timely break adds an atmospheric calm, ultimately setting up a powerful drop that's sure to light up any back room in the process.

The release concludes with its title and showcase piece 'Illumina' which carries the same deep and hypnotic allure of the previous two cuts and more. A perfectly contoured foundation in conjunction with smooth rhythmic tones and mesmerizing percussion makes for an undeniable groove. Light and effortless until the second act a spoken word vocal sample breaks the flow while an underbelly of broken beats adds a touch of funk. A remarkably mature piece and with support already in from Nick Warren you know it's one not to be missed. A superb debut from Lian and Chris on Suffused Music.

Subconscious Tales - Humble EP incl. Alex Vidal, Esok, LoQuai [SMD154]

Originally part of the quartet of tracks that made up the, “Till It Begins” EP, in August 2014, “Humble” was a delicious slice of progressive goodness that cooked up a sublime dance floor groove and delectable melodic sequences that showcased Subconscious Tales at his very best. Now, Suffused Music takes the Latvian’s track and treats it to a new set of remix recipes courtesy of three of Europe’s finest underground producers.

Spanish artist, Alex Vidal, is a producer with a strong “underground progressive house” flavor to his work. An accomplished musician in both guitar and piano, Vidal grew up listening to a host of alternative music which culminated in him DJ’ing techno, trance and house in the early 1990s, around local clubs and parties. A latent production career that began in 2012 has thus blossomed quickly as over a double century of production credits can be found beside his name for such impressive imprints as Bonzai Progressive, Stellar Fountain and OLD SQL. A trio of remixes for Suffused Music between July 2014 and June 2016 are now complemented by a fourth reworking, this time of Subconscious Tales. Taking the essence of the original, the Alex Vidal rerub is a rich and sumptuous affair as flowing melodic riffs and hypnotic arpeggio sequences are redolent in gorgeous delays and filters. A strong driving beat and house percussion move proceedings forwards as a wealth of additional production material is testament to Vidals’s undoubted talent.

With analter-ego defined as the Indonesian word for ‘tomorrow’, Esok, is an artist based in his country’s Jakarta capital. Fueled by a desire to “grow his style in diverse directions, to reach new and unknown destinations”, Esok’s work has been allied to a clutch of high profile underground imprints since a debut for OLD SQL in 2012. Indeed, it is with the Macedonian label that the Indonesian has garnered most success with a number of original and remix productions. Further work for BQ Recordings, Mistique Music and Morphosis Recordings has highlighted Esok’s production prowess and penchant for the progressive breaks sound that features heavily in his work.A pair of remixes of Adam-P and Munbraze in 2013 and 2014 highlighted Esok’s distinctive sound for Suffused Music, as he now reworks “Humble”. Making clever use of the original’s cadenced bass line, Esok treats Subconscious Tales work to a breakbeat work out in true progressive style. Thumping, reverb-drenched beats anchor to the dominant bass line as a series of effects fill the mid and upper frequencies. A pulsating side-chained plays its part and a delightful chord progression adds further emotion to an impressive remix.

The final offering comes from German based artist, Konstantin Alt, better known through his highly influential LoQuai production moniker. An artist with a huge reputation and well-deserved respect within the underground industry, LoQuai’s production credits total over one thousand in a tremendously prolific career. Mistique Music, Bonzai Progressive and his own Refined Tunes, are but a small selection of labels found next to the LoQuai name and it with pleasure that Suffused Music has the opportunity to re-release his remix of “Humble” which was originally part of the “One Hundred” compilation celebrating the hundredth release for the imprint in August 2015. A delicate low-slung groove makes its present felt while a new bass line pays tribute to Subconscious Tales’ work. Melodic lines and pads from the original twinkle and shimmer across the upper frequencies, combined with LoQuai’s trademark production skills, creating a mature and accomplished soundscape.

A set of remixes from Alex Vidal, Esok and LoQuai have seen Subconscious Tales’ music grow far beyond its “Humble” origins.

Evelynka & Daniel Merlino - Haze EP [SMD153]

The 153rd release on Suffused Music welcomes Evelynka & Daniel Merlino to the label for their debut EP. US based artist Evelynka has appeared once in the past with a contribution to the label's popular 'Initializing' Series whereas Argentina born but now US based artist Daniel Merlino is making his debut. Together the pair have crafted two exquisite productions which make up the duo's 'Haze' EP.

The EP's opener 'Prophecy' finds the duo exploring a progressive techno hybrid bound with strong percussive elements. Beginning with an ominous mood the tough groove comes together with methodical precision as razor sharp stabs and clattering drums steal the air. An acid like arp develops the storyboard further eventually initiating the main break. Dominated with dark tones the track's second act proves dramatic with a smooth build and rush of beats and drums which bring on a stellar third act conclusion.

The companion and also title piece 'Haze' concludes the EP with a more laid back yet equally exciting approach. Backed by a lazy groove and luminous tones it sets a gorgeous late night vibe early. Funky bass stabs, ethereal vocals and a smooth atmospheric storyboard carry the piece through a gorgeous first act before a near two minute break takes you further into dreamland. Cinematic and solemn it sets up an understated drop perfectly before a smooth third act brings you home. Two gorgeous cuts from Evelynka & Daniel which make for an excellent debut EP on Suffused Music. Don't miss it.

Steve Sai - Orbit EP incl. Wellenrausch pres. Kymatik, Hot Tuneik [SMD152]

The latest release on Suffused Music welcomes Steve Sai back to the label for a brand new single. The Greek artist last appeared on the Lithuanian imprint with his 'When The Lights Went Out' single which was released in 2014 October. Now making his sixth overall appearance Steve presents his brand new two track EP entitled 'Orbit' alongside remixes from Wellenrausch pres. Kymatik and Hot TuneiK.

Steve's tenure in the electronic underground stretches back over 15 years. A DJ from the beginning the Greek artist has shared the decks with a broad range of A-list talent including Max Cooper, Minilogue, Dave Seaman and Oxia. His understanding of dance floor dynamics is something that has always translated into his original music much like the lead piece here 'Orbit'. Beginning with a techno inspired groove the piece builds a smooth, hypnotic sensibility early. Layered beats and clustered claps set the stage for acid motifs and haunting vocal elements. Stripping down into the break the atmospheric tension builds as the effects decay before a timely build delivers that perfect dance floor payoff.

The first interpretation of 'Orbit' is provided by Wellenrausch pres. Kymatik who are making their third appearance on the label. After debuting the new moniker earlier this year the Berlin based duo have impressed both their fans and contemporaries alike. Their modern approach to the progressive blueprint is fresh and the underground is taking notice. Here they twist 'Orbit' into a mesmerising journey which plays out over eight magical minutes. The buzzing energetic core of the original stays nicely intact but it's Kymatik's contemporary design and creative vision that shines. Wonky synth motifs make for an unpredictable and truly exhilarating ride with a more melodic third act pushing it into goosebump territory.

The second and final interpretation of 'Orbit' is provided by Diego Carreón aka Hot TuneiK who is making his second appearance on the label. The Mexican artist and Hookah Records label boss last appeared on Suffused Music with his remix of 'Can't Explain the Bang' by Andrez from September of this year. Much like Kymatik, Diego's modern sound has been praised and Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren remain steadfast supporters of his music. Always looking to deliver something unique and different Hot TuneiK takes 'Orbit' into deeper territory with great success. Backed by a chunky groove Diego builds hypnotic layers fuelled by tough percussion and rugged synth work. Transitioning into a moment of calm the main break adds a serene balance to the dark undertone and makes for an emotive third act transition.

The release concludes with a second original entitled 'Diana' which proves to be a great complement to 'Orbit'. Following similar design profiles Steve takes the narrative to a darker more ominous place with paranoid motifs and rugged stabs all set against a mystical backdrop. Stellar drum fills and wispy vocals shine while an expertly executed break foreshadows a superb finale full of intertwined synths and rushes of white noise. It rounds out another top notch offering from Suffused Music in style. Don't miss it.

Espen - Odyssey EP [SMD151]

The 151st release on Suffused Music welcomes Espen to the label for his debut single. Hailing from Oslo, Norway Espen Gulbrandsen aka Espen has been a fixture of the progressive house underground since 2003. Under various guises and collaborative projects Espen saw his music featured on Armada, Baroque Records, Silk Music and Vapour Recordings. More recently the Norwegian artist has taken his sound to Proton's Particles imprint with a remix of Omar El Gamel's 'Escoz Me'. Now making his much anticipated Suffused Music debut Espen presents his latest two track EP entitled 'Odyssey'.

The release begins with 'Stains Run Deep' which finds Espen creating a deep hypnotic groove with an abundance of quirky hooks. It's subterranean beginnings are immediately inviting before a storyboard of fresh effects leads to a hazy tonal theme. Sinister vocal chants and an acidic underbelly make for a tension filled second act, ultimately setting up a warm rush of beats and noise for the ultimate dance floor moment. Always looking to move the narrative forward Espen continues the third act with stellar effects and a vibrant modular drift which carry the track to an exhilarating conclusion.

The companion piece and also the EP's title selection 'Odyssey' comes in a touch more techno inspired and equally compelling. The stellar design profiles remain with a rolling foundation carved out of mountainous bass while the track's intricate innerworkings build a fluid percussive wave. As the atmosphere grows the trailing effects give way for a haze of sweeping melodies. Accentuated during the main and developing into a moment of serenity the melodies decay as the warm groove drops amidst a band of sonic dust. It's a magical moment and perhaps one of the finest in Espen's storied career. There's already a buzz about this one in the underground and it looks set to be one of Suffused Music's most sought after releases this year. Don't miss it.

The 150th release on Suffused Music welcomes Subandrio to the label for his debut single. The Sri Lankan artist has carved out a unique place in the new landscape of progressive house. Released in early 2015, his debut EP for Cid Inc’s Replug Records paved the way for his rugged sound, and he went on to many great successes as a result, including an appearance on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeats 3 collection later that year. Now making his much anticipated Suffused Music debut Subandrio presents his latest studio creation 'Heroized Mortals' alongside remixes from Nikko.Z and Dynamic Illusion.

You could say Subandrio made his name in the underground with his techno infused brand of progressive house. His electric grooves and metallic melodies are irresistible and here we see him go a touch more emotive with equally inspired results. Anchored by a wave of rolling sub bass the piece creates an enormous presence. Soft acid lines and crisp drums wrap around the groove for the ultimate rhythmic vortex. The Sri Lankan goes one step further with melodic overlays adding a heavenly warmth while indistinct cascades trail through the framework. Summery and positive don't even begin to describe it's brilliance and a perfectly executed break sets up a goose bump worthy road home. Sublime music from Subandrio.

The first interpretation of 'Heroized Mortals' is provided by Nikko.Z who is also making his first appearance on Suffused Music. In addition to appearing on Sudbeat Music, Movement Recordings, ICONYC and Proton Music the Greek artist also heads up the excellent Dopamine Music imprint. It's been six long months without new music from Nikko so his remix here is certainly most welcome and anticipated. Years behind the decks opening for famed DJs like Hernan Cattaneo have brought a greater sense of dance floor dynamics to Nikko's productions and his 'Heroized Morals' interpretation might be his finest work yet. Opting for a more techno inspired approach Nikko radically reshapes the elements into a peak time behemoth. Rugged bass stabs make for a deadly groove while streams of white noise trail through the framework. The main motifs eventually descend over the pulsating groove and make for more than a few gorgeous moments. An effects heavy break may its strongest suit however with a twisted sonic trail eventually leading back to a moment of melodic brilliance. It would be hard to argue that this is not Nikko's best ever remix and with several top DJs already chiming in with support expect to be hearing it a lot in the coming months.

The second and final interpretation of 'Heroized Mortals' is provided by Suffused Music label artist Dynamic Illusion. Hailing from Hungary, Dynamic Illusion is now embarking on his seventh outing for the Lithuanian imprint and also owns releases on Armada Music and Silk Music. For his 'Heroized Mortals' interpretation Dynamic Illusion returns to his old school roots with a mix that sits as a wonderful complement to the previous two. A driving groove and soaring atmospherics immediately put it on the dance floor while timely sweeps and broken transitions keep the energy high. Angelic vocals add a heavenly air before a main break of well placed pianos and further vocal styling's add both emotion and intrigue to the mix. A warm rush of beats, drums and noise ignites the groove once more where the main motif eventually appears for a shining moment to close out the release. Gorgeous interpretation from Dynamic Illusion and a brilliant offering from Suffused Music that's not to missed.

Overloque - Trip, Pt. 2 incl. Isaak Escamilla, Altek, Joe Fisher & Max Italo [SMD149]

Launched in July 2015, Overloque and his “Trip” EP saw the Russian artist work a stylish 3-track techno production that shone with intelligent Romboy and Bodzin characteristics. As Suffused Music now returns to the EP, a trio of South American artists hit the remix trail.

Mexican, Isaak Escamilla, is an artist who has been involved in the underground dance scene since a debut for Ocean Drive Records remixing Redloft. A clutch of impressive reworks has followed for the likes of Mistique Music, OLD SQL and Panda Recordings. Returning to Suffused Music after an interpretation of Untold Stories’ “Shornhelm” earlier this year, Isaak Escamilla continues with his twenty-first remix production credit. Taking on the title track from Overloque’s EP, the Mexican’s remix of “Trip” is an intelligently constructed offering that captures the melodic character of the original while bristling with additional production material that delights in its rippling arpeggios and shimmering melodies. Backed by dominant techno beat and hypnotic rhythms, Escamilla’s remix is an impressive affair.

Accomplished guitarist, Mexican, Altek, has been heavily influenced by iconic bands that include Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails. With DJ appearances in the mid-2000s shaping his early musical preferences, a more considered approach to his sound saw a shift to production work in the techno, progressive and deep house genres. Thus, a half century of production credits can be found next to the Altek name as Green Martian, Bonzai Progressive and Four Peas Recordings bear witness to the Mexican’s technique. Returning to Suffused Music after a remix of Eugene Loner’s “Microcosmos” in June 2016, Altek provides a scintillating reworking of “Shipwreck”. Resonating with musical themes from Overloque’s original, the Altek remix carries a deep, rich sound that hypnotises through its pulsating backdrop and sparkles through additional piano riffs and production material to create an exciting dance floor interpretation.

No stranger to the underground dance scene through his stewardship of the Area Sur imprint and the “Twisted Sounds” syndicated radio show, guest appearances from Guy Gerber, Robert Babicz and Steve Lawler have cast Joe Fisher’s name in impressive light. The Argentinean has been a regular on such imprints as Future Lovers, Progrezo and CE Records with a portfolio of music that highlights his passion for deep, tech and progressive house sounds. Joining forces with fellow countryman, Max Italo, Fisher & Italo have created a strong brand of music since their debut for Baroque in early 2015. Other work for Surbeats, OLD SQL and Phunk Traxx have propelled the duo into the limelight as they now debut on Suffused Music as a double act. Reworking “Nightmare”, the Joe Fisher and Max Italo remix takes the thick detuned analogue sounds of Overloque’s work and embeds them within a rich melodic soundscape that evolves into a pulsating zenith by the mid-point. Intelligent use of original components with a pounding, newly built and groove-laden percussive section, has created a dream from the “Nightmare”.

A trio of new remixes from Isaak Escamilla, Altek, Joe Fisher & Max Italo has created an extended “Trip” for Overloque.

Paride Manzi - Show Me Your Love EP [SMD148]

The latest release on Suffused Music welcomes Paride Manzi back to the label for his debut EP. The Italian born Switzerland based artist has previously appeared on the Lithuanian imprint under his Claque Choc alias where he also owns releases on Asymmetric Recordings and Futura Groove Records. Here we see him under his more active namesake of Paride Manzi with a brand new EP entitled 'Show Me Your Love'.

The EP's title and lead piece finds Paride showcasing his distinctive tech house sound. Fat beats, clustered claps and growling synths get the track underway before bulging bass stabs ignite the low end. With a timeless flair a robotic 'Show Me Your Love' vocal sample then drops in, eventually leading to the main break. Here a wonky motif develops as a rising tonal theme ups the tension for a magical return of the groove and killer third act finale.

The companion piece 'Why Follow Me' comes in a bit darker and just as groovy. Strong bass stabs coupled with fresh drum fills make for an ominous intro before another distinctive vocal stab gets introduced. Plonky keys just add to the wonderful cadence before hypnotic motifs fade into the mix and initiate the main break. Fading to a near silence as flickering synths die off in the distance, Paride ups the tension nicely before the beats drop for that final drive and magic moment. Two immaculately produced cuts from Paride and another release that shows Suffused Music thinking outside the box once again. Don't miss it.

Andrez - Can't Explaint the Bang EP incl. Wellenrausch, Hot TuneiK, Amezquita [SMD147]

The 147th release on Suffused Music welcomes Andrez back to the label for a brand new single. The Bulgarian artist is making his sixth appearance on the Lithuanian imprint which follows his remix of Alfonso Muchacho's 'Neptune' from November of last year. Hugely prolific in the early stages of his career Andrez owns a discography with just under 200 credits while also recording under his Third Personality alias as well. A quieter 2016 has made new music from the Bulgarian all the more anticipated and his latest entitled 'Can't Explain the Bang' comes at precisely the right time.

Beginning with a tough kick and mysterious vocal samples the allure of the track immediately draws you in. Waves of wobbly bass bring a hypnotic flair as dark drums slowly encompass the framework.  Gaseous stabs light up the atmosphere as cymbal rides push the momentum into the break. Perhaps a highlight, the tracks centrepiece slowly strips to a wall of white noise leaving just a solemn pad as the groove begins to rumble off in the distance. Years behind the decks have given Andrez that distinct dance floor vision which a moment of silence and killer drop proves in spades. Massive work from one of Bulgaria's finest talents.

A star studded remixer cast only adds to the tracks brilliance with Amezquita, Hot TuneiK and Wellenrausch all turning in superb renditions. First up Colombian artist Amezquita makes his second appearance on the label and puts his own unique twist on the track with a slightly deeper appeal. Clever beat patterns and pulsating bass tones give the piece an elusive cadence before a short break brings in a band of growling synths. A touch cinematic, the tracks second act proves both striking and emotive with broken beats, melancholic pads and reprocessed vocals leading to an uplifting conclusion. Brilliant remix from Amezquita.

The second interpretation is provided by one of Mexico's fastest rising stars Hot TuneiK who makes his debut on the label. The Hookah Records boss takes the track into deeper territory with great results. Hot TuneiK has been noted for his distinctive design before and well tailored percussion and perfectly contoured bass tones show that once again. Much dubbier than the previous two versions it works on a more subversive level and a well crafted break sets up a third act where those distinctive bass tones really shine. Gorgeous remix from Hot TuneiK.

Closing the release out are the much loved Wellenrausch duo who return for their second appearance on Suffused Music. The Berlin based pair recently remixed 'Changes Fast' by Tim Robert which was recognised by Beatport with a banner feature in the progressive house section. Their sound which sits somewhere between deep trance and progressive house remains one of the most unique hybrids in the underground and they've proven that once again with a stellar interpretation of 'Can’t Explain the Bang' to close the release out. It's chugging groove and mystical presence are irresistible as the piece begins. Waves of synths weave their way through the atmosphere developing a deep, meditative pulse before an emotive break delivers one of those magic moments you dream about as an electronic music fan.  Its melancholic leanings, modern design and ultra smooth flow are out of this world and it would be hard to argue that's it's not the duo's career best work. A stellar end to another superb collection of music from Suffused Music. Highly Recommended.

Munbraze - Invenire EP [SMD146]

The 146th release on Suffused Music welcomes Munbraze back to the label for a new single. Hailing from Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Daniel Muntean aka Munbraze has been a regular contributor to the Lithuanian imprint over the years. His old school sound which draws influences from the Sasha & Digweed led early 2000's also bridges a gap to progressive trance on occasion. What's locked inside though is something of great intrigue for both your mind and feet. It's what has allowed Munbraze to quietly grow into one of Romania's freshest electronic music talents. His 'Decem Mensium' single, released courtesy Suffused Music in September of 2014 remains a career highlight. Now stepping back into the spotlight nearly two years later Muzbraze presents his much anticipated 'Invenire' single across three separate versions.

Beginning with the original mix Munbraze showcases his freshest electronics to date. Anchored by waves of rolling bass and rugged synth stabs it's a mix that exudes character from the outset. Airy pads and delicate tones add a sense of hope to the dark foundation, ultimately carrying the track into a cavernous break. As the stabs continue to build tension above the stripped back groove, a wave of sonic dust brings the track to its atmospheric core, with gleaming keys and alien-like transmissions taking the listener into a meditative state. It's a special moment and one which foreshadows a goosebump worthy conclusion.

Moving forward the 'Dark Afternoon' mix sees Munbraze rework the elements into a trippy state of mind with a lazier groove leading the way. More spacious in design, the acidic warbles and effects storyboard play heavily into the tracks late night appeal, while a carefully executed break delivers the most emotive moment on the release. Wrapped around those meaty kicks and mountainous basslines is wondrous atmospheric presence which appropriately gets a moment to shine as the release concludes with the 'Ambient' version. Gleaming delays, panning hits and perfectly contoured sonics highlight the mix, which leave you wanting to hear more from the mind of Munbraze. Certainly the crowning achievement of his career with all three versions sure to find a home in the appropriate boxes. The future looks bright for the Romanian talent and 'Invenire' is an important part of the story. Don't miss it.

Dynamic Illusion - Liquid Surface EP incl. Retroid, Following Light, KIDD Corp, Push'n'Ball [SMD145]

Veteran of the scene for a decade, Daniel Gyarmati has placed a significant stamp on the progressive breaks and house movement under his Dynamic Illusion guise. A regular on the Spring Tube and Morphosis labels, a clutch of productions for Suffused Music have centred around 2015’s “Runaway” EP. Now returning to the label, Dynamic Illusion discovers a “Liquid Surface”.

The original is a fast-paced track, filled with dynamic urgency courtesy of a running bass line and pounding beat. Hi-hat rhythms and percussive intricacy add to the action as a series of textured pads add delightful nuance, washing over the upper frequency range providing an intelligent musical paradox.

Ukrainian producer, Guk Kirill, is first to take up the remix reins with his Following Light moniker. With an academic background in fine arts to his name and the successful Inmost Records under his auspices, a pair of remixes for Suffused Music is now supplemented by a third. Taking the central themes of the original and placing them into a chunky rhythmic case, the Following Light remix adds a sinister, darker edge to proceedings through a series of dramatic effects and additional production.

Using a new creative guise to showcase his skills Gabor Darnoci, Krisztian Kovacs and Imre Szegedi, join forces with Dynamic Illusion to create the acronym infused KIDD Corp outfit. With lofty ambitions to “cultivate the real values of the progressive legacy…from a true human viewpoint”, the quartet now follows up a blissful rework of “Run Away” for Suffused Music, with a grittier new interpretation of “Liquid Surface”. The bass line now growls menacingly across the 9-minute journey, wreaking lower frequency havoc before a sumptuous breakdown turns the third movement into a lilting, eerie variation and a distinctive overall sound.

Hungarian duo, Push’n’Ball are next up on the remix trail. Regular DJ performances across their homeland have cemented a reputation for a distinctive sound that remained dormant in the production arena after a 2011 debut for CLS Music. Returning in 2015 with a pair of remixes and original contributions to the “X-Massive” compilation for BeMassive Records, Push’n’Ball debut on Suffused Music with a truly liquid offering that emphasises a softer melodic interpretation, redolent in cool shimmering pads and pulsating backdrops. New motifs can be heard in the back as themes gently evolve in a work of impressive skill and technique.

Adam Husz?r needs little introduction to the progressive breaks community. Under his Retroid production soubriquet, the Hungarian producer has shaped a genre with his huge rolling break beat grooves and razor sharp production skills. Responsible for the long-running and successful Morphosis imprint, a career highlight saw him asked to remix Hybrid’s “Original Sin” for Distinctive in 2011. A very welcome debut for Suffused Music thus sees a trademark broken rhythm and emotive, sustained bass line rip through the first half of the track with silky pads and filtered running arpeggio. A textured and stripped back breakdown then lays the foundation for an aural assault to continue in the third movement as evocative additional melodies showcase Retroid’s talent in no uncertain terms.

GBrown - Open EP [SMD144]

The 144th release on Suffused Music welcomes GBrown back to the label for his debut EP. The US artist last appeared on the Lithuanian imprint with a remix of 'Run Away' by Dynamic Illusion and Kelly Noland. Released in June it saw the New Orleans resident take the piece into progressive minded territory with great results. Now we see GBrown returning for this much anticipated debut EP entitled 'Open'.

The release begins with 'Another Perspective', a deeply engaging, percussive number. From it's dubby, mystical beginnings to offset rhythmic structures and drummy clusters it's a joy for both the mind and feet. As the piece picks up momentum, sweeping effects pierce the air, with solemn atmospheres leading into the main break. Here a spoken word narrative takes centre-stage, it's druggy connotations meld perfectly with the psychedelic audio collage which surrounds it, before a smooth build drops the groove for what should be a delight on the dance floor. Great start to the EP.

Continuing with 'Believe by Two Hemispheres' GBrown explores deep atmospheric themes backed by a chugging, floor friendly groove. It's slow methodical build makes for a captivating first act as each electronic accent pushes the vibe higher, culminating with a release of tension as the main break commences. Again vocals play a large role in the tracks centrepiece, with cross cultural chants and spoken words elevating the dramatic appeal, as the beats drop for another magic moment.

The release concludes with the deep and dark 'This Is Who We Are'. As the most menacing of the three it's rugged character and sinister themes immediately electrify the mind. Amidst a storm of beats and drums again sits an ominous vocal, perfectly processed with psychedelic flair it leads the piece into a deadly break. Perhaps GBrown's most inspired moment as he crafts a tension filled interlude with undulating bass and a wave of vocal effects. Definitely a moment to lose yourself in and with an even more haunting conclusion it rounds out the EP with you wanting more. Three stunning productions from GBrown which make for a perfect debut EP on Suffused Music. Don't miss it.

KIDD Corp - Timelapse EP [SMD143]

The latest release on Suffused Music welcomes KIDD Corp back to the label for their debut EP. The newly formed quartet of Gabor Darnoci, Daniel Gyarmati (aka. Dynamic Illusion), Krisztian Kovacs and Imre Szegedi made their label debut with a gorgeous interpretation of 'Runaway' by Dynamic Illusion & Kelly Noland in June of this year. Now set to present their first original material the KIDD Corp returns with the much anticipated 'Timelapse EP'.

The ethos of the KIDD Corp project is rooted in the legacy of progressive minded sounds with a look forward into the future. That certainly holds true on the EP's opener 'Timelapse' with it's deep, sultry grooves and heart warming vocals. Anchored by a laid back groove, the quartet expertly accents the framework with dreamy motifs and intricate electronics. As the vocal storyboard unfolds in the main break the emotive qualities rise. The drop is both delicate and poignant with an airy flair ultimately leading to a wondrous finale.

Continuing with the EP's second offering, 'We Have Work 2 Do' comes with a more traditional progressive mentality. Lead by a chunky groove, raspy stabs and indistinct vocal trails it's a delight for the both the mind and feet. Rolling rhythms continue to bring the momentum up before a timely break reveals a spoken word vocal, resetting the groove into driving, dubby territory. One final break brings further dramatic tension before a fading silence gets broken with vocal gates and a rush of beats and drums. A standout production from KIDD Corp.

The EP concludes with 'Back to Moon' which finds the quartet bringing a smooth, effortless and deeply hypnotic journey. Galloping beats, gaseous atmospheres and a lovely arp lead the charge, eventually revealing a classically styled main break. Again highlighted by a spoken word, sci-fi themed vocal the emotive energy expands as waves of white noise swirl around the numerical countdown. It makes for a gorgeous apex and foreshadows a poignant third act which creates a hopeful and reflective vibe to the end the release on. A superb debut offering from KIDD Corp and another exceptional release from Suffused Music. Don't miss it.
