Amezquita - Perpetual EP incl. Dark Soul Project pres. Dancing With Myself, Anthony Yarranton [SMD122]

With a stream of quality music across Suffused Music in 2015, Colombian producer, Amezquita, now joins the label’s 2016 roster with “Perpetual”, complemented by a pair of remixes from Argentinean progressive flair and UK deep house mastery.

One of his country’s brightest emerging talents, Amezquita’s work since a 2013 debut for Sonnet Speciale has been impressive. Subsequent tracks for an array of impressive labels has seen the Bogota resident hit the heights with original work for Mirabilis, Wasabi and System Recordings to name but a few. Now debuting on Suffused Music, Amezquita and his “Perpetual” opens with a strong percussive groove as muted stabs play their part. Opening up into a full-blooded, beats laden work, textured layers and additional motifs add a further dimension to a work that evolves elegantly over the course of its seven-minute voyage.

Ivan Jaime needs little introduction through his Dark Soul Project soubriquet. An artist passionate about art in all its forms, his lifelong relationship with fine art has in turn seen the Argentinean become an accomplished pianist and guitarist. Production work has seen the Dark Soul Project name allied to a plethora of blue chip imprints as Baires, Mistique Music and Sudbeat have all borne witness to Jaime’s work. Further supported by the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed and Sasha, an appearance on Nick Warren’s “Soundgarden” compilation was a notable career highlight for the South American producer. Debuting on Suffused Music, the ‘Dark Soul Project presents Dancing With Myself’ remix takes Amezquita’s original and turns “Perpetual” into a dark, driving, brooding affair full of menace and mystery. Using the original components to great effect, additional production in the way of pitched vocal cuts and hypnotic percussive cadence sit alongside a stereoscopic analogue lead that lacerates its way through the mix in impressive style.

UK producer, Anthony Yarranton, has been a force to be reckoned with over a hugely impressive career thus far. Originally finding favour with Armada through his track, “Bedlam” in 2010, his work for Particles and Proton Music has seen the iconic “Bag of Bells” and “Soul Tax” EPs hit the headlines. A regular on the Axon imprint with such releases as “Bohemian Groove” and “Tip Assist”, Yarranton has seen his work supported by Digweed, Warren and Seaman among others. A regularly touring DJ across the UK and Europe, an impressive ability to read his audiences has secured a growing reputation behind the decks. A third Suffused Music debutant, the Anthony Yarranton reworking of “Perpetual” is a mature offering that blends Amezquita’s original components and Yarranton’s own additional production material with eloquent ease. Deep house beats and chord stab flavours blend seamlessly into a coherent new version that is sure to find favour with club goers through its hypnotic flow and dynamic evolution.

Two remixes from Dark Soul Project and Anthony Yarranton have helped Amezquita demonstrate “Perpetual” success.

Shiloh - Landmine Hopscotch EP (Suffused Music Edition) incl. Kobb, Spacebeat [SMD121]

The 121st release on Suffused Music finds the label showcasing the first of their 'Edition' series remix packages. The first instalment in the series features long time industry favourites Shiloh. The Canadian duo is part of progressive house royalty and both new and old fans of the genre look back on their discography quite fondly. Since beginning their career in 2003 Shiloh have appeared on Audio Therapy, Baroque Records, Global Underground and Hope Recordings. One of their most poignant creations over the years has undoubtedly been 'Landmine Hopscotch'. Released in 2009 courtesy of Proton Music the up-tempo progressive piece contained a bevy of Shiloh's trademarks hooks and blissful melodies. The original release also included the Hernan Cattaneo supported Cid Inc. interpretation and the track later went on to receive three additional remixes from Soundprank, Micah and Bastards of Funk and Sonic Union. Now over six years later Suffused Music has the distinct honour of resurrecting the classic with new interpretations from Kobb and Spacebeat.

The first interpretation of 'Landmine Hopscotch’ is provided by Kobb who is making his second appearance on Suffused Music. Kobi Yitzhaki aka Kobb is a 31 year old Israeli producer who’s big break in electronic music came when he was announced as one of the finalists in Heineken’s Thirst competition. Kobb earned a slot alongside John Digweed at the final 5000 person event and since then has been focused on developing his own unique production style. Kobb’s initial studio creations (in 2010) for Plattenbank and Asymmetric Recordings were hugely impressive and some of his more recent work for Dopamine Music and E Sound Records has been equally inspiring. His much anticipated 'Landmine Hopscotch' interpretation might be his best and most sought after production yet; with its funky, melodic nature and buoyant beats leading the charge. Clever edits and some unique design make for a sensational first act before the piece breaks down revealing that classic lead melody from the original (albeit in a much more indistinct manner). The moments of bliss are merely teased as a rush of beats and drums bring those firing electronics and romping groove back for a sensational conclusion. Huge remix from Kobb and one you'll be hearing a lot over the first quarter of 2016.

The second and final interpretation of 'Landmine Hopscotch' is provided by Spacebeat who is making his sixth appearance on Suffused Music. The Russian artist has had several stand out productions this with original and remix work for 238 West and Stellar Fountain being just a few of the highlights. Aptly coined 'Electric Calm' Spacebeat has gone deep and dubby for his 'Landmine Hopscotch' interpretation. The Russian's smooth grooves and hypnotic rhythms are a delight for the senses and provide a wonderful late night vibe. It's a radical departure from the original and thus a great complement to the previous two versions here. It's bubbly textures and cascading tones are a match made in harmonic heaven, providing a smooth yet exhilarating finale. A top notch re-issue from Suffused Music with more to look forward to as 2016 moves forward. Don't miss it.

Modeplex - Spectrum EP [SMD120]

With futuristic soulful, sensual productions, we have Modeplex, aka Dave bringing us his EP out on Suffused Music. The release has 3 original tracks pierced with some delicious grooves and beats.

First up, we have Spectrum, assembled on a slow dreamy downtempo house bassline. The track carries a nice progressive rhythm to it with some amusing triads and cascading synth lines leading to a nice vocal snipping in and out. The balanced tempo variation of highs and lows maintains a deep house swing, guarding the mood of the track.

Visitation, wherein starts on a bouncy note. The moment you play you will know, it’s hard to not move while listening to it. The romping bassline drive slowly peaks into the buildup along melodic chords and strings crafted with some dramatic elements in the breakdown. This track can set the dancefloor into chaos.

What Ever You Need is my favorite from the release. The track takes a different route, kicking off with a deeper thump & fat sub-bass at the start. Streaming into some prodigious warped synths, chunky beats and snares of the sleazy synthesizer adding a susceptible groove to it. The alluring male vocal adds more mood to the track gliding smoother and deeper. Modeplex maintains the deep house essence throughout the track.

Overall a clear array of quality music production right here. Very balanced release with three distinct tracks, once again another fulfilling release and highly recommended.

Elliott Duquai & No One - Mosquito Bay EP incl. Rick Pier O'Neil, Killian's, Wes Straub [SMD119]

The 119th release on Suffused Music welcomes Elliott Duquai and No One back to the label for a new single. The French duo made their debut on the Lithuanian imprint in April of 2014 with 'Specific F-Influencia'. The EP featured two up-tempo productions which showcased the trancier spectrum of progressive house. Then almost exactly a year later the duo returned with a fresh approach and their newest studio creation 'Maschine' which was a contemporary take on progressive techno. The much loved duo has been quiet ever since and with a productive time in the studio the duo now emerge with 'Mosquito Bay' alongside remixes from Rick Pier O'Neil, Killian's and Wes Straub.

The release gets underway with the original mix and it shows that months locked away in the studio has been fruitful for Elliott and No One. The duos sound has evolved once again and 'Mosquito Bay' represents months of hard work. Anchored by a hook heavy, hypnotic groove it doesn't take long for this one to suck you in. As the piece builds layers of metallic synths, galloping rhythms, distinctive stabs and feathered electronics bring waves of momentum, which drive the track into an endless loop of infectious energy. Void of any real main break the duo keeps the groove locked with unique design and a relentless approach. A powerful production from Elliott Duquai and No One.

The first interpretation of 'Mosquito Bay' is provided by Rick Pier O'Neil who is returning to Suffused Music for his sixth appearance. The French producer and RPO Records label boss first appeared on the Lithuanian imprint with 'Shimmer of Lights'. Released just over 12 months ago the two track EP was part of a career resurgence for Rick who has been quiet for several years prior. Rick has now re-established himself as a top producer in the underground and boasts a discography with releases on Armada, Baroque Records, Blackhole Records, Bonzai Records and more. He's certainly found a home on Suffused Music with several of his best productions coming courtesy of the Lithuanian imprint. His 'Mosquito Bay' interpretation is no different as he takes the great energy from the original and transforms it into his own new school progressive techno vision. Rick's distinctive designs always push the sonic envelope and in combination with a mean, hypnotic groove it makes for a dubbier, more dance floor ready version of the original. A deadly interpretation from Rick which you'll no doubt be hearing a lot in the coming months.

The second interpretation of 'Mosquito Bay' is provided by Killian's who is making his first appearance on Suffused Music. The French producer has an extensive discography highlighted by releases on 1605, Toolroom and his own Cobra Records. Having earned support from Umek, Marco Carola, Richie Hawtin, Steve Lawler and more Killian has already notched his place in the underground. His club friendly fusion of Tech House and Techno has remained fresh and he's brought that vision once again with a great interpretation of 'Mosquito Bay'. Killian's percussive framework is backed with a rolling groove aimed squarely at the dance floor. Phasing tones and strong rhythmic elements drive the track into the main break. Here Killian drops a catchy vocal hook, propelling the track to even greater heights. The third act continues the storyboard with new found vocals along with the infectious swing which should make for dance floor devastation.

The third and final interpretation of 'Mosquito Bay' is provided by Wes Straub who is returning to Suffused Music for his second appearance. The Canadian born, now Mexico based producer first appeared on the Lithuanian imprint with a contribution to the label Initializing Vol. V compilation from May of this year. Well known as a DJ, Wes has shared the decks with Markus Schulz, Nick Warren, Jody Wisternoff, Max Graham and Laidback Luke to name just a few. A pivotal moment in Wes’s production career came in 2013 when he was announced as the winner of the Markus Schulz & Ferry Corsten (New World Punx) remix competition. He has since gone on to appear on a variety of top imprints including John OO Fleming’s JOOF Recordings, Kunai Records and Sound Avenue. His return to Suffused Music has been much anticipated and he's closed the release out with an excellent interpretation of 'Mosquito Bay'. Wes' energetic style complements the original really well as he takes a grander approach with cascading synth swells, bulging bass stabs and discernible hypnotic rhythm. The break builds tension with a bassy narrative and those epic lines seemingly reach a notch higher with each successive loop. It makes for a magical moment and one which closes the EP out on a high note. Huge remix from Wes and a quality offering from Suffused Music. Don't miss it.

Josma - Signals EP [SMD118]

As 2016 opens its doors, Suffused Music looks to develop its reputation for breaking exciting new artists to the label and showcasing their impressive music in the process. To this end, Josma now joins the Suffused Music ranks with the three-track, “Signals”.

The product of the combined talents of friends, Jose Toledo and Maxi Montivero, Josma, enters the underground dance arena with notable credentials. Both hailing from the central Argentinean city of Codoba, Montivero, an accomplished pianist, has seen success under his own name. A clutch of productions over a four-year period has seen original music signed to Deepmentality and Balkan Connection, after a debut for Area Sur Records in 2010. Furthermore, “Remember” for the highly influential imprint Tulipa, on the Brendon Collins curated “Petal Four”, was a notable 2014 highlight.

Making his production debut, Jose Toledo, is another skilled musician, proficient in guitar and piano, and using his talent to perform in a rock band. Now moving into the dance music arena, his collaboration with Montivero has seen the ten-year long friends combine their respective talents. Working closely for more than a decade, the duo have produced music in a variety of genres but have, thus far, not ventured into a collaborative partnership. This is now rectified through their Josma production pseudonym and the striking “Signals” EP.

Opening track, “Dark Memories”, is an intelligently produced piece driven by cadenced hi-hat percussion that lilts atop dominant kick. Melodic flair is brought to the fore by a strong lead riff that plants a hook squarely in the listener’s subconscious. Evolving strongly throughout, rhythmic stabs and sustained bass line create an emotive whole.

Glimmer” is a hypnotic affair that revels in rhythm and bass glory. A house beat drives the track forward as it evolves delicately via filtered bass line warmth and percussive ingenuity. A vibrato melodic riff makes its presence felt from the mid point onwards, developing into stepped sequence glory post-breakdown and working in splendid synchronicity with rhythmic components in the third movement.

The title track itself continues the themes central to its EP counterparts as “Signals” makes a strong play through it ticking percussive rhythm. A plucked riff plays its part in rhythmic interest before a wonderful arpeggio lights up proceedings, laying the foundation for a delicate played riff to showcase Josma’s musicianship. A strong bass line and pulsating pads are final component in an impressive work.

An intelligent and homogenous offering, a brand new three-track EP from JosmaSignals” a stirring mark of intent.

DP-6 - Eclipse EP incl. Advent's Rising, Desaturate, Third Personality [SMD117]

The 117th release on Suffused Music finds DP-6 making their label debut with a brand new single. Alexey Filin and Vadim Indigo hail from Russia and make up the DP-6 production duo. Famed for their releases on Baroque Records, Bonzai Records and Vapour Recordings the Russian duo now make their hugely anticipated first appearance on Suffused Music with 'Eclipse', alongside remixes from Advent's Rising, Desaturate and Third Personality.

Long noted for their genre less production approach, DP-6 is quite adept at producing a variety styles, all of which they excel at. On 'Eclipse' we find the duo crafting a deep and trippy progressive number. Beginning with a DJ friendly intro lead by a heady atmosphere and a wall of rolling sub bass, the track quickly builds a large presence. Alien-like sirens and marching drums gradually pick up the pace before spacey sweeps reveal the cavernous groove. What follows is a storyboard of effects, each one more compelling than next, ultimately carrying the track to spaced out conclusion.

The first interpretation of 'Eclipse' is provided by Advent's Rising who is making his 18th appearance on the label. The Greek producer has long been a core artist on the Lithuanian imprint, dating all the way back to his first appearance in June of 2013. Here he reworks 'Eclipse' into a peak time progressive bomb. Anchored by a driving groove it packs some punch early on before an array of metallic designs and beefed up drums drop for a big moment. A stripped down middle section, dominated with eerie vocal stabs and sinister electronics, proves to be the perfect transition into a massive third act finale where a new tonal theme is sure to raise a goosebump or two.

The second interpretation of 'Eclipse' is provided by Desaturate who is making his first appearance on Suffused Music. One half of the famed Progress Inn duo has garnered much hype since adopting his new moniker earlier this year. A string of hits for 238W, Sound Avenue and Sudbeat in recent months have been heard throughout the underground, and he’s delivered another great production here for his 'Eclipse' interpretation. Always one to cleverly coin a remix Desaturate has aptly titled this one 'Lone Star' and he hits the peak time nail dead on the money with it. From its mountainous groove to electric rhythms and a barrage of fresh effects the first act is lively and carries a wicked flow of energy. With the breakdown commencing a more distinct theme develops and the beats quickly return, surrounded by a stripped down framework. It's a transition full of wicked effects, ultimately building to the bass line dropping in, which is sure to light up all the progressive floors out there. Huge remix from Desaturate.

The third and final interpretation of 'Eclipse' is provided by Third Personality who is making his first appearance on Suffused Music. The Bulgarian producer is perhaps best known for his Andrez alias where he has accumulated close to 200 releases since 2007. Third Personality was born in 2012 as an outlet for Andrez to explore more techno inspired productions. Since adopting the alias he's appeared on 238W, BCSA and several other top underground imprints. For his 'Eclipse' interpretation Third Personality has stripped the track down a touch and reworked the groove into a driving menace powered by titanium coated kicks. Razor sharp effects slice through the atmosphere while the tension continues to rise towards the break. Panning vocals add a pronounced effect as the drama continues to grow before those punchy beats return with harrowing effort. Massive remix from Third Personality which should be a delight for all the darker floors out there. It's rounds out the package on a serious note and adds another notch to Suffused Music's excellent discography.

DP-6 - Eclipse (Advent's Rising 'Gloomy' Mix) [Suffused Music]

Ri Za - Far Beyond My Mind Part2 incl. Daraspa, Rasti Tkac, Stereo for Two [SMD116]

The 116th release on Suffused Music finds the label revisiting Ri Za's 'Far Beyond My Mind' EP with a brand new set of interpretations. Originally released on the Lithuanian imprint in April of this year the three track offering from the Slovakian producer has been a highlight in the labels catalogue. Now we see Suffused Music inviting the talents of Daraspa, Rasti Tkac and Stereo For Two to rework the project.

The first interpretation is provided by Daraspa who is making his first appearance on Suffused Music. The Dutch artist kick started his career in 2013 with an EP on Sound Avenue. Released in November of 2013 it was a debut with boundless creativity that struck a chord with the underground, and immediately made Daraspa an intriguing name to follow moving forward. The Dutch producer has never been one to over commit to projects and thus each and every production comes with high anticipation. His debut on Suffused Music finds him remixing Ri Za's 'Champions' into a deep, throbbing and moody gem. Anchored by a rugged groove, it's buzzing synths and trippy vocal loops immediately propel the track into a spiralling sonic vortex. As a wealth of effects sweep across the framework sheets of tension are lifted as the breakdown commences. Filled with dramatic electronics it's an engaging second act, with the eventual return of the rugged groove being more than enough to cause electricity on the dance floor.

The second interpretation is provided by Rasti Tkac who is making his first appearance on Suffused Music. Long time progressive house fans know the Slovakian producer from his much loved productions with Thomas Haverlik which date back 10 plus years now. The duo crafted many progressive gems including Tyra, Synthia and Noel. Productions from Rasti were scare for years until just recently where he's made a resurgence in the underground having completed remixes for Balkan Connection, Clinique Recordings and Welcome Music. Rasti's Suffused Music debut finds him reworking Ri Za's 'Far Beyond' into a deep, tripped out masterpiece. A pulsating sequence of bass tones and liquid like swells make up a killer foundation, eventually modulating in melodious fashion for some great moments. Shifty rhythms set a great tonal design and eventually open up to initiate the main break. Merely a quick transition, the beats return along with some new found vocal elements to spruce up the surroundings, before the lead elements fade back in to prominence for a great conclusion.

The third and final interpretation is provided by Stereo For Two who are making their third appearance on Suffused Music. Tim Verhees and Joris Bylemans make up the Stereo For Two production team and currently reside in Antwerp, Belgium. The duo have built an incredible discography over the course of their three and a half year partnership. In addition to quality outings on Suffused Music; Baroque Records and Bonzai Records have also showcased music from the talented artist duo. For their third and most anticipated release on Suffused Music Stereo For Two have reworked Ri Za's 'My Mind' in exceptional fashion. With a deep and dreamy approach, Stereo For Two have re-visited the much loved pixie days of progressive house, all while provided their own modern twists. A kaleidoscopic sequence of keys takes you on a wonderful journey throughout, while the distinctive vocal elements deliver that all important soulful element to solidify the great vibe. Wonderful remix from Stereo For Two and a superb remix EP from Suffused Music, who may have delivered one of their most impressive releases of the year here.

Some Little Things - Rhinobass EP [SMD115]

From the foothills of the Sierras Chicas in central Argentina, Cordoba residents Leandro Moyano and Matias Medina, have been an impressive mainstay of the South American underground dance scene via their Some Little Things pseudonym. Now bringing their distinctive blend of progressive and “futuristic” sounds to Suffused Music, Some Little Things gallop into the here and now with “Rhinobass”.

A raft of influences that include UK progressive giants, Pink Floyd, and Argentinean rock acts Patricio Rey and Redonditos de Ricota, vie for attention amongst the myriad electronic tastemakers including Sasha, Digweed and legendary fellow countryman Hernan Cattaneo. Moreover, not content with merely citing such heavyweights influences, Some Little Things have found themselves sharing the DJ booth with such celebrated company as SoundExile, Roger Martinez and Guy Mantzur.

A fledgling production career that began midway through 2014 with the debut “Lines” on Sindor Records, has subsequently seen a clutch of impressive releases hit high profile imprints including Dopamine, Clinique and Tim Penner’s Slideways. Furthermore, the appearance of “Carnival” including a remix from Cattaneo and SoundExile on Hope Recordings’ “Never Get Out of the Boat” sampler, set another high benchmark.

Debuting on Suffused Music with “RhinobassSome Little Things provide further illustration of their rise to the upper echelons of underground dance music. “Doris” opens the EP with a huge resonant bass line that bounces across the lower frequency spectrum accompanied by a fizzing, ticking percussive rhythmic line and soaring white noise effects. A rolling tom groove comes to the fore from the mid point onwards as an acid-tinged lead line makes its presence felt in menacing fashion.

The intriguingly titled “Elena de Rumania” follows, supplying a similar flair for rhythmic sensibility. Evolving effortlessly throughout its eight-minute journey, parallels with electronic giants, Leftfield, are not misplaced as a collage of melodic riffs and arpeggios entwine atop a dominant beat to mesmerising effect. An exquisite key change heightens anticipation before a breakdown full of melodic poise leaves the way clear for gentle rhythms to hold sway once more.

Title track “Rhinobass” brings the story to a close with a carefully constructed work that epitomises Some Little Things’ penchant for progressive sounds carefully interlaced with a thoroughly modern house vibe. Metronomic in rhythm and effects, the track elicits an exhilarating edge through its use of sumptuous octave pitched arpeggios and textured pad sounds. The resultant effect is a work that is as likely to appeal over headphones as it is in the clubs of their native Argentina and beyond.

A musical vignette of impressive proportions, Some Little Things are sure to lead a charge with the heavyweight “Rhinobass”.

Julian Rodriguez & White Resonance - Santa Maria EP incl. Monojoke, GMJ, Jakhira [SMD114]

On Suffused Music's 114th release Julian Rodriguez teamed up with White Resonance to deliver the dreamy 'Santa Maria', which combining the melodic vein of Julian and the groovy, club friendly vibes of Alberto. Both guys had a long list of releases on their own so far, with merging their soundprints leads to a fantastic piece, which can stable itself in the early, building phase of dj sets.

The original production was also handled by Monojoke, GMJ and Jakhira. Monojoke dropped a heavier baseline, with a more energetic approach overall, GMJ went deeper, using beautiful, floating textures, last but not least Jakhira spiced his version with a lovely, emblematic piano melody, which takes over the place.

Atsunori Murata - Lapis Lazuli EP [SMD113]

Constantly delivering quality music this time we have talented producer Atsunori Murata bringing us his latest EP. The release has four original tracks, with distinct sound arrangements and great vibes relative to it’s name Lapis Lazuli.

First we have Azurite, kicking off with dreamy synths & pads along the driving bassline in the buildup. Which then transitions into a nice progressive techy melody with an array of effects and sounds in the background. The bouncy cadence with those kicks and beats, overlapping dramatic key notes in the breakdown peaking back into the soaring synth lines, is one of the main element in the whole track.

Next we have I Feel, pulsating rhythm, quickly establishing a deep funk with stunning warm bass & synths which maintains the irresistible groove. Bleary chords, punchy percussions along the vocal snip as the bassline kicks in followed by the melodic stabs takes the track higher and higher into a melancholic vibe that just keeps you coming back for more.

Following which we have Lapis Lazuli, opening with minimal tribal drumming flowing into a dubby bassline groove, the song is set on a great direction. Hard beats stabs leading you to the breakdown where the listener gets into a trancey mode slowly picking back into the towering synth melody with the light riffs & atmospheric dip. Atsunori has great style with his synth lines, piloting a more composed sound along some clever use of variations in tempo and melody.

Finally we have Twilight. One of my personal favorite from the release. Set on mellow slow atmospheric pads the tracks is built on some edgy filtered bassline. The breakdown sounds very melodious with the surprising sweet key progressions sounding like the bag pipe along the bleeped-out synths. The moment you play it you can feel its great control, along deep bass bump and hard stabs keeping the groove alive throughout the track.

Another quality release for Suffused Music. The 4 tracks on the release are all equally good. Recommended!

Alfonso Muchacho - Neptune Skies Part2 incl. Andrez, Anton MAKe, Dofamine, Maxi Iborquiza [SMD112]

In its 112th release, Suffused Music heralds the return of the "World's Most Dangerous DJ", a.k.a. Alfonso Muchacho, for the unveiling of Neptune Skies Part 2. Released in March of 2015, the original EP remains at the top of Suffused Music's popular releases. This time around, a monster line up of remixing artists put their own spin on the tracks, sampling a cornucopia of genres from melodic progressive to tech house.

Opening up with the first of the 4 remixes, label newcomer Maxi Iborquiza delivers in a big way with his rendition of "Change Everything". Staying true to the original bass sequence, Maxi seamlessly melds a gloriously retro sounding lower end with a fluttered-beat kick drum, propping up a beautifully rendered melody of dreamy keys and snappy percussion.

Artist and producer Andrez returns to Suffused Music with a driving tech house rework, putting the haunted back in "Haunted Heart" with his signature high octane floor pounding rhythms. This remix features pulsing bass stabs offsetting a perfectly balanced, yet somehow delicate sounding hats and claps that only Andrez could pull of in style, giving the infamous Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde a run for his money.

Remixing the title track, Suffused Music's veteran Dofamine drops a superb deep house bass under miles of atmosphere drawing the listener into a stellar break where glittering worlds of vaguely stringed synthesizers can be glimpsed among luminous, enveloping pads before continuing on through the night riding on a hypnotic beat intermittently accentuated with vocal hits.

Closing out the release, Anton MAKe gives takes the only best from "Nothing Out Here" and gives it all back to the listener in a melodic progressive journey not soon forgotten. Using Anton's notorious pad work as a back drop, the infectious bass line stands front and center surrounded by a full supporting cast of brass, keyed and hammered synths for a truly enjoyable tunes that is a sure to played time and time again.

Dynamic Illusion ft. Kelly Noland - Run Away EP [SMD111]

The 111th release on Suffused Music welcomes Dynamic Illusion back to the label for a brand new EP. Dynamic Illusion hails from Hungary and first appeared on the Lithuanian imprint in December of 2013 with a remix of 'Mars One' by Tabriz & Zuckermann. His discography dates back to 2006 with appearances on Armada Music and Blackhole Recordings being two of the highlights. Daniel now returns to Suffused Music for his long awaited debut EP entitled 'Run Away'.

Dynamic Illusion has long been noted for being equally adept at crafting deep and melodious progressive house as he is chunky breakbeats. His sound has constantly evolved over his now 10 year career and for the EPs first cut we see him throwing back for a classic progressive house style cut. Led by ragged synths and on open air kick there's a discernible tension building in this one. An evolving atmospheric storyboard lifts the groove higher with each successive loop and on to an elating conclusion.

This sets up the appropriately titled 'Massive' with its chunky groove and ethereal vocal elements. The meaty foundation is a delight for your feet as a well crafted vocal narrative unfolds into the main break. Here a blend of ghostly electronics sweeps across the framework and elevates the vocals into angelic territory. A second half of sultry beats keeps the late night vibe intact and carries the track to a classy conclusion.

Next up is 'Siren' which finds Dynamic Illusion travelling into more melodic territory. The Hungarian's warm textures and fluid grooves come to life here with a dulcet intro tailor made for a sunrise moment. As the melodic structures begin to take shape acidic hooks roughen up the groove nicely and momentum builds towards the main break. The interlude strips right down to a gaseous soundscape as more prominent vocals get introduced. Angelic in nature, they lift the emotion to heavenly proportions and carry on, through an exhilarating conclusion of swirling harmonics.

The EP concludes with not only it's title cut but also its full vocal composition featuring the talents of Kelly Noland. 'Run Away' flows with effortless flair through compassionate motifs and sultry vocal styling's. It's sleek, laid back nature is perhaps what's most appealing along with a heavenly break which sets up a gorgeous conclusion of layered vocals and strong musical themes. A brilliant debut EP for Dynamic Illusion on Suffused Music. Don't miss it.

John Cosani - Love Song EP incl. Erich Von Kollar, Pappa Sierra, Tash [SMD110]

No stranger to the music industry, Argentinean, John Cosani has found himself a regular on such celebrated imprints as Liquid Grooves, Balkan Connection and SexOnWax. Now taking a bow for Suffused Music’s 110th release, the DJ with appearances across his homeland at such venues as Bahrein, Caix and Blue Apple, speaks from his heart with “Love Song”. Accompanied by a trio of top notch remixes, Suffused Music is delighted welcome John Cosani to its ranks.

The original mix sees Cosani take “Love Song” on a path a deep chunky rhythms and hi-hat groove that lays the foundations for rich melodic interplay to evolve from muted plucks and textured pads. Reaching a melodic denouement in the breakdown, the third and fourth movements thus see a seething dance floor monster evolve in effortless glory.

Owner of the successful Movement Recordings, Tash has ridden a tidal wave of triumph over fifteen years of DJ performances and production work. His music signed to a plethora of high-calibre imprints, Baroque, Vapour and Lowbit have all played host to the Tash sound with support from the DJ elite including Digweed, Warren and Cattaneo. A regular in Beatport’s progressive house and techno charts, the Greek is another Suffused Music debutant. Weaving his production magic, the Tash “Snareless” remix of “Love Song” uses a clever percussive groove to breathe new life into Cosani’s original. Taking the key melodic elements, his intelligent additional production adds a further layer of polish and veneer through rasping bass line, shifting his interpretation into subtle new directions.

From the mecca of US dance music, Detroit resident, Justin Emery, has seen his Pappa Sierra alter ego begin to merge as a serious name in the underground music industry. Work for The Seed, Change Audio and Lowbit has outlined an impressive set of credentials with a series of original and remix material that saw a successful rework of Dmitry Molosh’s “High” for the latter in April 2015. Now arriving on Suffused Music, the Pappa Sierra remix provides a deep and dark affair that springs to life through ticking percussive urgency. Making full use of Cosani’s original components, Emery has crafted a new direction for “Love Song” through impressive, cavernous bass riff and a strong beats-laden offering with clever spot-effects drenched in reverb and delay.

The final Suffused Music debutant sees Stellar Fountain manager, Erich Von Kollar take up the reins. A man with a keen sense of music knowledge and production prowess, Von Kollar’s syndicated shows across Digitally Imported, Innervisions and Frisky Radio has also seen him produce two “Relations” compilations for Proton Music’s “Compiled & Mixed” series. A production career that has seen the Hungarian with a dozen credits on his own label, alongside work for Soundteller and Balkan Connection, the Erich Von Kollar remix of “Love Song” is anchored around a wonderful bass line that combines intelligent interpretation and emotive response in equal measure. A full-blooded rhythm section keeps the energy high while astute use of Cosani’s original components provides Erich Von Kollar with a remix of skill and precision.

Arthur Minnahmetov - Shaman EP [SMD109]

An artist hewn from the rich seam of talent that is modern Russia, Arthur Minnahmetov, from the Yelabuga in northern Tatarstan has hit a rich vein of production form in a short eighteen-month period. Now that talent is fully realised with the brand new three-track “Shaman” EP on Suffused Music.

First “exposed to electronic music” in the 1990s, the transformation of Russian mass media during that decade saw Minnahmetov’s tastes began to begin crystallise as the first electronic oriented shows began to hit the radio airwaves. Consequently, it was not until 2002 that his musical tastes ultimately distilled into the underground progressive house sound.

Taking the time to learn his craft and understand the fundamentals of production techniques, it was not until 2007 that Minnahmetov first dabbled with his own compositions, ultimately rewarded with a debut release for Balkan Connection family label, BC2, in May 2014. Since then, a host of impressive production work has flowed from the Russian’s fingers with a plethora of original production work for the likes of Dopamine, Nuevadeep and System Recordings. Indeed the Bedrock inspired “Ground Under” EP for Electronic Tree highlighted Minnahmetov’s ‘deeper’ side.

A regular on Suffused Music, the track “Why”, originally part of the “Initializing 2014 Vol. II” compilation, soon saw a full release with a trio of new remixes. “In Your Soul” became a statement of intent with three original works, now followed by a second three-track original EP as Arthur Minnahmetov invokes the spirits through “Shaman”.

Solaris” opens proceedings with a nine-minute journey full of chunky hypnotic rhythms and mature melodic arrangement. Driving forcefully forwards, distant vocal phrases drift in ethereal fashion as textured pads undulate across the left-right spectrum.

“Shaman” hits the ground running with a skipping hi-hat section and strong house beat before pitched vocal phrases give significance to the title itself. A sustained chord throughout provides tension and atmosphere while a delayed riff in the third movement provides dynamic dance floor energy.

The final track sees a return to thick groove-filled rhythms and twisted percussive elements through “Caretta”. A bouncing bass line supplies a counterpoint element that nestles precisely underneath the strong beat, and a collage of effects and simple melodic phrasing throw up a growling, hypnotic, tech house air.

Through his “ShamanArthur Minnahmetov has been able to enter an ethereal world full of rhythmic spirit and vision.

Harmon Ikka - Beneath the Surface EP [SMD108]

The 108th release on Suffused Music welcomes Harmon Ikka back to the label for his debut EP. The Portuguese producer first appeared on the Lithuanian imprint in August of this year with a remix of Audio Noir's 'Paris After Midnight'. Harmon's techno inspired approach to the piece closed the release out strong and here we see him presenting his new three track EP entitled 'Beneath The Surface'.

The release gets under way with the title cut and finds Harmon crafting a tough, groovy number which crosses genres nicely. It's chunky foundation, spacious drums and catchy bass hooks set a wonderful framework for a bevy of unique motifs to work their magic. Spacey designs and airy pads complement the acidic groove while the calculated break is sure to deliver a great dance floor moment. Amazing start to the release.

The EPs second selection 'Circling the Event Horizon' is a more distinctly themed piece with its timeless hypnotic flow. Led by an evolving vortex of synths it takes you deep into electronic space while a barrage of claps and offset keys light up the framework in vibrant fashion. Another well constructed second act peaks anticipation before a smooth rush of beats and rhythms rises the intensity a few notches higher.

The EPs third and final selection 'On the Other Side of the Wormhole' goes deeper with warm grooves, acidic lines and granular designs, all wrapped up in a back room state of mind. A third act of timeless tonal motifs and warbly hooks leave you with a great feeling as the EP comes to a close, and makes you wonder what's on the horizon for Harmon's unique sounds. Another exceptional signing from Suffused Music who have spotted a rising talent here. Don't miss it.

Subconscious Tales - Till it Begins EP (Part2) incl. Ewan Rill, LoQuai, Soulfinder, Tuxedo [SMD107]

We had seen the first edition of Till It Begins EP last year which featured some great original productions of Latvian talent, Subconscious Tales. This year it’s time for part 2, marking remixes from some of the most talented artists such as Ewan Rill, LoQuai, Soulfinder & Tuxedo.

First we have Russian talent Ewan Rill bringing us his version of Become Aware. Built on slow grooves leading into a melodic bassline, the track carries an old skool house vibe with bass twangs and stabs. Perfectly arranged sounds with rapid riffs & claps progressing into a dancy breakdown with the impeccable synths which is the core of the track adding some dramatic mood before exploding with a powerful groove polished to perfection.

Next we have Germany based talent LoQuai doing what he does best, giving the original version Humble a complete twist with dark soundscapes. Slow buildup, followed by hard beats along the hypnotic bassline swirling up and down is enough to keep your head spinning.  The track carries an addictive groove to it, along with some atmospheric pads in the background. A late night dancefloor hypnosis.

That’s right, Soulfinder approaches the original version of the track Aura in his own style. Moody, rhythmic synths and a striking warm bass, which keeps growing as the track progresses. The breakdown carries a nice drive with layered filters & slow tempo variations peaking up and then breaking back into the groove. Nice smooth transitions keeping the swing to it.

Talented polish producer Tuxedo bringing us his version of Till it Begins. Swelling bassline with hard beats & kicks injects the track with techy grooves making your ear buzz. The chord progressions along the filter effects in the buildup with futuristic stabs enhances the track with fresh sounding synths, bringing an energetic vibe to the tune.

Overall great work by all the artists. The 4 tracks on the release are equally good & each one will give something different. Recommended!
